Racing Rules of Sailing
From the statutes of the Virtual Sailing Organization
1. Aim of the society is the care, advancement and execution of the virtual sailing sport. This happens through support of the virtual sailing sport, advancing and spreading it as well as lobby and work for the recognition of virtual sailing as an official form of the sailing sport with national and international sailing federations.
Simply put we support and advance the use of the Racing Rules of Sailing as published by the International Sailing Federation.
So please take the time to get you copy of the RRS at www.sailing.org
ISAF RRS 2013-2016
Save it and keep it ready for future use. We recommend you print a copy and keep it near when sailing your virtual boat.
Now the ISAF RRS may be handy as a reference, but you'll find the language is not always as clear as you may like. Start out with reading section A, B and C Rules. That would be rules 1 through 23 which basically are supposed to prevent collisions.
You then could start with looking at various interpretations in the cases, published by the ISAF together with the rules.

Note: The only valid language for the racing rules of sailing is English. Though there may be local translations available from your national authority we recommend to use the English version only, as in virtual sailing as good as every regatta is international.
